Fish are Killing Humans

Leaping sturgeon kills five-year-old girl boating in Florida

(Reuters) - A leaping sturgeon struck and killed a 5-year-old girl boating with her family on a river in Florida, and a similar incident injured two adults in a different part of the state, wildlife officials said on Saturday.
Jaylon Rippy was boating with her family on the Suwannee River in northwest Florida near Fanning Springs on Thursday evening when the jumping fish injured the young girl along with her mother and her 9-year-old brother, the state Fish and Wildlife Commission said in a statement.
The family members, who were from nearby Trenton, were airlifted to a hospital in Gainesville but the girl did not survive. The conditions of the girl's mother and brother were not clear.
On Friday, two adults traveling in a boat on the Santa Fe River between the Suwannee River and a Branford area campground were also struck by a leaping sturgeon, Fish and Wildlife Commission officials said in a statement.
It is unusual for sturgeons to strike boaters in Florida on consecutive days, said Fish and Wildlife Commission spokeswoman Karen Parker.
But wildlife officials warned people to be aware of the threat from the toothless fish, which can grow to a length of 8 feet (2.4 meters) or more and weigh over 150 pounds (68 kgs).
Research has found sturgeons jump to equalize pressure in their swim bladders and communicate with other sturgeons.
"With the low water levels in the river system, the sturgeon are jumping much more frequently than in recent years," Major Andy Krause, Fish and Wildlife Commission regional commander for the Lake City area, said in a statement.
In late May, a 15-year-old girl was knocked unconscious by a leaping sturgeon in Florida, Parker said.

Rare Shark Feeding Frenzy in North Carolina

Published on Oct 13, 2014
On Thursday, October 9 at around noon, while at a retreat at Cape Lookout National Seashore off the coast of North Carolina, the leaders of One Harbor Church witnessed a shark feeding frenzy. The men were out fishing for the evening’s dinner when they stumbled across more than 100 sharks attacking a school of blue fish. As seagulls and pelicans joined in on the meal, the men began to cast into the surf, catching fish without the use of bait. For more than five minutes, the sharks were observed swimming in and out of the surf, some of which became beached in the fury. Donnie Griggs, the cameraman who captured the footage, is an avid waterman who spearfishes, dives, swims and surfs at Cape Lookout often. We want it to be clear that Cape Lookout and the surrounding beaches of Eastern North Carolina are extremely safe for swimming. The presence of these sharks and large schools of fish is actually a sign of a very healthy ecosystem.

Really?

9 Ft Shark Eaten by Unknown Sea Creature

At 4am on Christmas Eve a tagged shark was eaten by a massive unknown sea creature

-What Happened?
-Why it's Mysterious?
-And what are the Plausible Explanations?

-What Happened?

Documentary Filmmaker Dave Riggs and his crew, who tagged a large number of great white sharks off the coasts of Bremer Bay in Australia, encountered something very unusual.

One of the tags of a large shark was discovered washed up on shore.

The tag had no signs of algae, but instead appeared to have been heavily bleached by stomach acid.

Using satellite tracking, they were able to pin point the exact time the shark was mysterious attacked and eaten.

-Why this is mysterious

This is mysterious for 2 reasons

1.) The data showed the tag taking a sudden 1902 foot drop down the continental shelf which indicated that the shark had just become prey to something big and very fast.

2.) After further examination, it was revealed that the tag had been ingested by an animal with an internal temperate of around 78 degrees Fahrenheit, 32 degrees higher than
than the great white's normal temperature.

-Plausible Explanations?

Some people suggested that it could have been an orca, they are certainly large enough, with the biggest on record being 32 feet long and they have been known to hunt
great white sharks, however, the problem with this theory is that killer whales generally stay near the surface and the deepest an orca has ever been recorded was 850 feet
while this unknown creature was nearly 2,000 feet deep.

Another theory was that the tag may have somehow been removed from the shark. However, the trouble with this explanation is that
great white sharks body temperature is significantly warmer than the surrounding water, so if the tag had been removed the tracker would have to have picked up a sudden drop in temperature, which, it did not.

So could another larger great white shark have been the culprit? Not likely because of the temperate shift.

The temperate of the tag while in the muscle tissue is about 8 degrees warmer than the cold ocean water.
-Recorded Tag Temperature 46F
-Water Temperature 38F
The temperature of a great white shark's belly will range between 13-25 degrees warmer than the surrounding waters.

So this would indicate a temperature between 52 degrees with a maximum of 64 degrees.
The temperature of whatever unknown sea animal that ate the tagged shark was at 78 degrees.
